Meet "Red"
Red is a 15-Time #1 Internationally Bestselling, award-winning, 31-year writing and publishing professional of over 125 indie- and traditionally-published works with somewhere near 800,000 copies of them in the world. She writes genre fiction novels, anthologies, short stories, and TTRPGs (Crooked Moon, Okkorim, Shadowdark, Gudnak, DCC, and more) as Jeri Shepherd; romance, plays (Shakespeare Shakeups), and poetry as Maggie McMahon; and Spanish and English children’s books (Max Explores), author business resources, celebrity biographies (Dick Vitale, Steve Palec), sportswriting (Fergie Jenkins, U.S. Olympic Dr. Rick Lehman), and a diverse library of nonfiction, leadership, devotionals, and memoirs as Reji Laberje. Red has taught at universities, leads writing, gaming, and creative tracks for conventions around the country—including Gary Con, Des Moines Con, Twin Cities Con, Mad Ex, Midwinter Gaming Convention, Phoenix Con, and others—and is a proud member of the Origins Author’s Alcove, and Gen Con Writer’s Symposium, as well as an attending professional at Dragon Con, and Midwest Gaming classic.

Red Writes Books is the parent company of her publishing house (Lucy's Lantern Literature - publisher of anthologies for convention promoters around the U.S.), as well as her whole line of work. She works as a touring author, writing coach, workshop and panel leader at conventions and conferences around the country, game and book writer for hire, podcaster (Yours in Writing) and professional of writing and publishing services and retreats of all kinds in empowered creative partnerships.
As Jeri Shepherd, she co-owns Red Rose Works (www.redroseworks.com) with fantasy author, Tiffany Rose Nickel. The company is home to the Girl Power GMs; Red Rose Game development (which has Dungeon Race RPG which Red began developing beginning in 2022, as a next step for her Broken Fault Lines series, as well as their original 1-Page Dice Dungeon system), publishing, and distribution; creative industry services; coaching; courses; and resources. Red moved her proprietary Working Writers Mastermind she designed there in 2024—she shares the awesome author organization with A.G. Wedgeworth, Christopher D. Schmitz, and T.R. Nickel. Together, they have built an online course, online learning community, and annual writing business and craft events.
Red is a USAF Arabic Linguist Veteran, Christian, mother, Gigi, indie artist supporter, lover of adventure real and experienced around a game table, and explorer of all that life and the world have to offer. Red is happily living on a riverfront in Wisconsin with her husband and pets, though she enjoys travel all over!
